When chapter or verse numbers do not "match"

Sometimes the chapter and verse numbering in Hebrew Bibles and in English (and other) translations do not match up.

Joel chapter 4 is one of the infuriating places where this happens. The Hebrew chapter 3 (vv.1-5) are numbered 2:28-32 in translation, so chapter 4 becomes chapter 3... What this means is that when I talk about 4:16 in the Hebrew to see the same text in English one must look at 3:16 ! Where such differences in numbering occur I have tried to indicate this by giving the reference to the Hebrew text in brackets with the mention "MT" for Massoretic Text so "Joel 3:16 (MT 4:16)" means Joel chapter three verse sixteen in English, which translated Joel four verse sixteen of the Hebrew.
