גלה glh qal "uncover", in Am 3:7 = reveal; it often also means remove or depart = be exiled.

This word is used more frequently in Amos than any other Bible book, only Ruth and Leviticus come close to Amos' usage.

• Am 1:5; 6:7 (where the participle acts as a noun "an exile")
• Am 5:5; 7:11, 17 have a doubled emphatic construction (גָּלֹה יִגְלֶה) reinforcing the certainty of the exile
