מִדְבָּר
midbar "desert, wilderness". In both Amos 2:10 and 5:25
it refers to the Exodus experience. Because of this reference, in Israel's ideology
(cf. Hos 2:16 (2:14 Eng);
9:10; 13:5)
as in Amos' experience from Tekoa the "wilderness"
is not only a fearsome place, but also the place of exodus and for some where
flocks were pastured annually.
