People who were dedicated (by their parents or by their own oath) to God, often from birth, perhaps for a set period. During this time they were sworn to several signs of this dedication (Num. 6:1-7):
At the end of the period of consecration these conditions lapsed, there was
a special ceremony to mark this change of status (Num 6:13-20).
